Several injured as police, Shi’a Muslims clash in Kaduna

Pandemonium broke out in Zaria, Kaduna state on Saturday September 23 as police officers and Shi’a members clashed.
According to sources, the Shi’a members who have been outlawed in the state, were holding what is called an ‘Ashura’ when some police officers stormed the gathering to stop them.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai banned the religious group from holding any activity in the state after the clash they had with the Nigerian Army in 2015.
