A cyclist has died after being hit by a car in east London.

Christopher Holt, 58, was taken to hospital in a critical condition after colliding with a car in Rainham Road, at the junction with Sowrey Avenue, at 7.10am on May 11.

Mr Holt, from Hornchurch, remained in hospital in a critical condition until his death on May 15.

News of his death emerged after a 25-year-old cyclist was killed in Selhurst on Monday.

A post-mortem examination held at Queen’s Hospital Mortuary gave a cause of death to be a pulmonary embolism.

The female driver of the car stopped at the scene and is continuing to help police with their enquiries.

Roads and Transport Policing Command officers based at Chadwell Heath Traffic Garage are investigating and have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
