A man was stabbed after a row over a kickabout in a south London pub’s beer garden, police say.

Police said the 31-year-old victim is believed to have been injured after an altercation outside the King’s Arms pub in Mitcham on Sunday.

A Metropolitan Police Service spokesman said the stabbing occurred after a row over a kickabout in the pub’s beer garden, but it was not clear whether the victim had been playing in the game.

Officers were called to the pub at the junction of Upper Green West and London Road shortly after 8.40pm and the victim was taken to hospital by ambulance.

He is reported to be in a serious but stable condition.

Police said they believe a number of people witnessed the assault and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
