The body of a pregnant woman has been found in her residence in Khilgaon on Tuesday afternoon.
Another woman was also found dead in her residence at Badda on the same day.
The expecting lady, identified as 23-year-old Fatema Begum Chaiti was found in her home in Khilgaon by her husband Mohammad Ramizuddin.
Her brother, Arif Hossain said Ramizuddin called him when he found the body as he claimed and informed him that she had had a stroke after which he absconded from the scene.
Arif, who confirmed that his sister was two months pregnant, arrived at the scene to find her lying on the floor, and took her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 2:15pm.
DMCH police outpost In-charge Mozzamel Hoque confirmed Chaiti’s death and said while police are searching for Ramiz, they have not ascertained the motive behind her death, or the manner of her death.
Meanwhile, the body of Shahida Begum, a 22-year-old garment worker, was found in her residence at Madhya Badda area, where she lived with her husband Mohammed Anis.
On information, police rushed to the scene at about 12:30pm and broke open the lock of the residence to find the body inside.
OC MA Jalil of Badhya police station told the Dhaka Tribune that locals had informed them of the incident and of Anis having absconded from the area.
Shahida was rushed to the DMCH, where on-duty doctors declared her dead.
Her body has since been kept at DMCH morgue.
The OC said while they have not yet ascertained who is behind the murder, they are looking for the husband. The police will carry out an investigation into the incident, he said.
